Installation and general care
PoolRock.com fountains are delivered complete and should be placed and filled with water, then plugged in. If your fountain is to be installed inside you should fill the fountain with water outside and study the water chracteristics (such as any minimal splashing) before determining safe placement inside the home. The fountains have an auto-fill device that can be hooked up to a water line so you will not need to top off the fountain as evaporation occurs. The float will need to be adjusted to maintain the water level that you want. The float's metal arm can be bent to allow adjustment. The float works with moderate water pressure, if the pressure is too high then a regulator is needed. The water level should not be higher than the mounting hardware for the float.
All PoolRock.com products come with a UV resistant, chlorine resistant base coat to provide the base color of the product. Acrylic stain is used for the accent colors. These acrylic stains can be purchased at Michael's Art stores across the nation. Look for the 2 oz Americana brand bottle in the paint section of the store. If touch up is needed, place some stain in a small container and add 50% water to thin the paint. Use a brush or sponge to apply the stain. It is best to apply as little as possible and add more in layers. The stain lightens as it dries. The stain should last for years before any touch up is required.
Typical accent colors that we use are: charcoal grey (use on all colors for aged effect and dark dots on Grey Granite color), sable brown (Sand, Grey Granite, and Latte colors), light cinnamon (Sand and Latte colors), light buttermilk (Grey Granite color [for dots]), black plum (Sedona Red color), canyon orange (Sedona Red color).
If your fountain has calcium deposits on it you can use a 50% solution of CLR (Calcium Lime Rust remover) to remove the deposits. Follow the instructions on the CLR container. You may need to touch up the stain after you are done. Using distilled water will prevent calcium deposits on your fountain. Do not use distilled water if you have pets that may drink from the fountain. There are also additives that can be purchased for you to add to the water to minimize calcium deposits. |
