Pool Consumer Information
How to open your swimming pool.
 

Starting up a new pool, or reopening an existing one can be easy. Consult your dealer for any additional information concerning your particular pool in your geographical area.

1. Remove the winter cover (if placed) after eliminating all debris and water from the cover’s surface. Clean and protect the cover, and store it in a dry, cool place.

2. Remove leaves and debris from the pool bottom with a leaf cleaning device. Empty the skimmer baskets and pump strainer basket.

3. Add water up to the pool level recommended by the manufacturer (usually halfway up the skimmer).

4. Inspect all equipment including pump, filter, heater, diving board, ladders, and chlorinator for proper installation and operation.

5. Add Poly-Algaecide 30 or Algaecide 60 as recommended by your dealer.

6. Run the filter system for at least two hours. During this time, brush the walls and vacuum the pool bottom. (Exception: The surface of a newly plastered pool should harden for a period of several weeks before being brushed or vacuumed.)

7. Take a water sample to your dealer as explained in Pool Maintenance 1. After analyzing the sample, the dealer will provide complete instructions on how to stabilize and balance your pool’s water. Once this is done, chlorination may begin.
